Sex Trafficking in the USA

It was a privilege to host this "Pediatrics in Practice" podcast with my two guests, Heidi Olsen, RN, and Rachel Whitfield, APRN, both from Children's Mercy Kansas City. Frankly, I wasn't aware that sex trafficking was a big problem in the USA, especially in the pediatric population!


Healthcare providers may have the opportunity to intervene when victims present to ERs and clinics. A high index of suspicion for human trafficking is required to identify and assist children, adolescents, and adults ensnared in human trafficking.
