Locum Tenens and Infectious Disease with Allison Nazinitsky, MD

Many thanks to Dr. Allison Nazinitsky, a locum tenens infectious disease expert, real estate professional, telemedicine doc, and expert witness. Allison practices infectious disease at a variety of hospitals, including Regional One Health in Memphis, TN, where I work as a Professor of Neurology. I’m always pleased when I see Allison in the Doctor’s Lounge. I know she will be helpful in those difficult cases when patients have neurologic problems as well as infections.
During our 30-minute discussion, Allison shared why she chose infectious disease as her medical specialty. She also explained how she discovered locum tenens and how it has benefited her financially and in terms of work-life balance.
Allison was delighted when she discovered how rewarding each locum tenens assignment can be. Not only was she able to help patients with challenging infections, but her work was always appreciated by the medical teams at different assignments.
We briefly discussed Allison’s expert witness work. If you are interested in this topic, please check out my interview with Dr. Jordan Romano, Episode #131, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOlbxHb2YXA
Allison has limited her clinical work to 1-2 weeks/ month, which allows ample time for travel and time with her daughter and other family members. When she’s away, she focuses on work. When she’s home, she’s 100% present.
If you are a medical student considering specializing in infectious disease or looking for tips regarding locums in your medical career, you can contact Allison through Doximity or LinkedIn.
