Locum tenens is not for every physician, but all physicians should be aware of this unique option that can allow them to explore new practice settings, different parts of the country, combine vacation and work, earn additional income, or continue to practice medicine with a more flexible schedule rather than abruptly retire. Physicians owe it to themselves to learn more about locum tenens if they are dissatisfied with their current professional situation.
