Many thanks to Ronald W. Pies for joining me in this examination of the ethics of referring patients to one's own hospital pharmacy. Is it legal? Is it ethical? These are the questions we try and answer.

Dr. Pies and I had a great discussion when he was a guest on "The Art of Medicine with Dr. Andrew Wilner," Episode #63, where we discussed psychiatry and writing. He's thoughtful and smart! One of Dr. Pies' passions is writing. He is the author of several books, including the recently published, "The 36 virtues of the Talmudic sages: Rabbinical commentaries on the key ethical values of Pirkei Avot."
