Only about 15% of locums physicians are right out of residency or fellowship, so it's not for everyone. However, if you are trying to figure out what kind of practice you want long-term, where you want to live, need to pay back student loans, or stall for a year or two while your partner completes his or her training, locums might be worth a try.
