Many thanks to Harsha Rajasimha, Ph.D., Founder and Chairman of the Indo-US Organization of Rare Diseases. After a family tragedy, he became a "social entrepreneur" dedicated to helping patients and families who suffer from rare diseases. Rare diseases are those with an incidence of less than 1/200,000, according to the US Orphan Drug Act.

Although rare, these diseases affect 30 million people in the US and millions more worldwide. There are approximately 7,000 rare diseases, many without adequate treatment.

Please watch this 30-minute interview to hear Dr. Harsha Rajasimha's touching and inspirational story. I very much appreciated his candor and continuing contributions that help children and their families with rare diseases.
