Locums for Psychiatrists

Writer: anwilneranwilner

Strategies for Success, a short video on locum tenens, was just published in Psychiatry Times. The demand for locum tenens psychiatrists has never been higher, and it's an exciting option for psychiatrists looking to expand their experiences or who are unsatisfied with their current positions.

Frankly, I was a bit surprised that locums suits psychiatrists, since so much of the success of a psychiatric intervention depends upon a "therapeutic alliance," which takes time to develop. But maybe with the utilization of medication therapy (as opposed to the "couch"), long-term relationships are not so necessary? I'd be interested in hearing psychiatrists weigh in on this.

Thanks!
